Two-Hearted Crossing
Before he died, Henri Morais thought changing his name to Henry Maris, doing good deeds, and surrounding himself with the splendor of the mountains in northern Idaho was enough. He thought that his guilt over being part of the violence of the Quebec separatist movement would be buried with him. It wasn’t. TWO-HEARTED CROSSING weaves together Montreal during the violence-prone sixties, a bomb thrown into a crowded café in Bahrain, and two helicopters burned by eco-terrorists in Idaho. It also tells the story of a flawed family, struggling to move forward in their suddenly upside-down world.
What readers are saying:
"Families are complicated, and the author does an excellent job of revealing this complicated family, warts and all, to her readers."
"Two-Hearted Crossing is a powerful continuation of Toni Morgan's saga that began in Montreal's rubble-filled streets, filled with demonstrators, police and casualties. With her flair for strong characters and compelling descriptions, Morgan introduces a family that appears to be settled in a new location, far from Montreal, but they are all unwittingly tied to a mysterious legacy linked to the family's now deceased father, Henry Maris."
